Frommers:
Although it's a tad touristy, this elegantly rustic restaurant
still ranks as the city's most enjoyable dining experience.
The gorgeously restored 18th-century house has a lovely
patio with great shade trees and several tables out by the
aged bell (which gives the restaurant its name). The well-prepared
dishes go beyond the standard offerings: Try picadillo a
la Habanera (beef hash), the house specialty; boliche mechado,
beef stuffed with bacon and served with french fries; rice
and beans; or choose from among a number of salads and grilled
fish. Service is excellent. The restaurant is most popular
for lunch, but at night, the patio is illuminated and the
square is wonderfully quiet.
Canalcubano:
Set in a big XVIII century house, in San Juan de Dios Square,
the Restaurant offers several town traditional dishes. Specialty
in roasts. Visitors are welcomed with chimes. |

Frommers:
Tucked back in the Galería Colonial, this new upscale
colonial-style restaurant is one of the nicest in town.
While its prices are somewhat higher than other restaurants,
for the most part it's worth it. The restaurant has a breezy
feel, lemon-yellow walls, and mural paintings at either
end. The menu offers a nice assortment of well-prepared
dishes, including breaded shrimp and snapper, chicken cordon
bleu, and a juicy steak "Mayoral" in red wine
sauce. Unusual for a Cuban restaurant outside of Havana
or the beach resorts, it has a pretty decent wine selection.
Canalcubano:
This restaurant is part of the Colonial Gallery, a mini
commercial area build around a charming yard where you will
find several shops, bars and coffee-shops. Its menu is based
on classic, local, very tasty recipes but we recommend the
terrific “Bistec Mayoral”. A quite rustic place
but with a very pleasant service. |

Set just off the quaint little Plaza del Carmen, this restaurant
specializes in lamb dishes, hence the name "little
lamb." Heavy wooden tables and wood and rough cowhide
chairs are spread through several rooms of this lovingly
restored home dating to 1827. There are huge, soaring arched
wooden doorways and several ceramic murals by Oscar Lasseria
on the walls. When the weather permits, grab one of the
several tables under large canvas umbrellas on the cobblestone
plaza in front of the restaurant. The house special is a
roasted leg of lamb, stuffed with bacon and carrots and
served with a thick and tasty red sauce. There are several
other lamb dishes on the menu, as well as a smaller selection
of chicken and beef entrees.
Canalcubano:
This traditional restaurant is located in the old part of
the city of Camagüey. It offers a very good creole
cuisine and an attentive service. The establishment is decorated
in Cuban countryside style, very attractive.

Canalcubano:
La Piazza is far from being only a restaurant. Thanks to
its situation and link to the sentimental memory of Camagüey
it somehow started to be a symbol. You will find it under
the arcades of a funny palace, situated in one of the most
popular corners of the city’s historic center. What
you get there are not only pizzas but a range of simple
meals “Italian style”, some Cuban dishes and
great local bears. |

Frommers:
This surprising paladar is more professionally managed and
outfitted than many a state-run restaurant. The dining room
(you enter through the living room and head up a flight
of stairs) is nicely decorated in cabin-style wood paneling,
with hanging plants, a wood bar, and air-conditioning that
is a savior to the sweaty. The owner does everything, imparting
a very family-like atmosphere to the place. Though it's
a peso restaurant, foreigners are welcome, and the extensive
menu is a bargain. Dishes include the requisite chicken
of all stripes, pork steak, pork chops, beef, spaghetti,
salads, and asado en cazuela (a stew of barbecued meats).
Canalcubano:
The success of this establishment is amazing, though it
is a bit far from the centre of the city. It is necessary
sometimes to wait for a table, but its food and cheap prices
make it worth the distance and waiting. |

Frommers:
This sophisticated, top-floor restaurant of Camagüey's
coolest hotel has panoramic views of the city. Surprisingly
elegant, it has faux-crystal large chandeliers, large mirrors,
cool breezes, and black-and-white tile floors. During the
day, there's a good-value buffet lunch for $8, with a variety
of soups and salads, pescado a la catalana (Catalan-style
fish filet), fish enchiladas, hamburgers, creole fried chicken,
and the house specialty, ropa vieja (tangy shredded beef).
Canalcubano:
This restaurant, located in the floor before the last one
of Gran Hotel, offers superb views from its large windows.
The cuisine is simply acceptable, with some changes in quality
what it is a pity because this establishment would deserve
the best gastronomic offer in Camagüey. |

Restaurant situated in a 1732 housing building, occupied
