Casa Daniel
My review: I have nothing but good things to say about this casa.
We stayed here two times, upon arrival and the day before we left.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and private. You have your own little building, set aside from the main house. There is even a little porch. Breakfast is great!
It was the best casa we visited in Cuba. Daniel even arranged our bustickets to Santiago.
Don't be bothered by the bad review about the casa from Anna/Norway: Cuba is an adventure and you have to be a little flexible. If you're not flexible: Cuba is not the country you will like to visit.
If you are flexible, you will notice that everything works out just fine!

Hostel Daniel, Holguin
My review: LACK OF GOOD SERVICE!!!!
WOULD NOT RECCOMEND IT TO ANYBODY and PARTICULARLY TO THE FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN!
We have made a booking through Cuba-Junky. WE HAVE BOOKED FOR 2 NIGHTS, WEEEEKS BEFORE ARRIVEING AND STRESSED THE FACT THAT WE WERE ARRIVING WITH A SMALL BABY.
First, in the hostal description it is stated that the location of the hostal is 5 min walking distance from the city centre. That is not true. At least 20 min walking or a taxi.
Second, when we have arrived with taxi, stright from the airport, the young man (appeared to be the SON of an owner), seemed to be surpried to see us turning up. He quickly said that the house is overbooked, that the other guests just have besided to stay for 1 night more and that is simply why we will not have the room.
The "son" was not very interested in resolving the situation in our favour, his "best" suggestion was to take us to another hostal (far outside of the city as it turned out, so we would need to pay taxi every day back and forth).

Hostal Daniel
My review: The casa was a modern house with a spacious semi covered patio where meals were served. It is located in a quiet neighbourhood a 15-20 minute walk from the main square of Holguín, no risk to get lost, though. Only a 5 minute walk from the bottom of one of the city's main attractions, the Cerro de la Cruz.

How was your room?: The room was comfortable and consisted of the sleeping space plus a small entrance hall with table and chairs, armchairs and a fridge. Clothes rack with hangers.
How was the food they offer?: The food was very good and the servings very big.
Other services they offer: The offer taxi/tour service in the family's Lada.
Other comments: The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Some English and Russian is spoken.

My review: Very friendly people, who wanted to pick us at the airport without asking for it. So nice!

How was the food they offer?: Food was better than a lot of places I gave been in Cuba, including resorts.

Pros:
Nice hosts, especially Daniel. He knows a lot about Cuba and how to help his guests. By that I mean he makes sure the food his wife prepares is washed and cleaned properly. They buy clean water specifically for guests. Cuban water is not recommended for Westerners. His English is pretty good and always goes out of his way to help people.
Cons:
Ok the problem I have with this casa is the reservation. I told Daniel I will be there on X,Y and Z days but when I got there, we were told that the other guest booked the casa for another day so we have to go somewhere else. Doesn't the other person has to find somewhere else? So his brother drove us to another casa in a building with 1 small room that me and my friend shared. On the last day when I returned to the casa, which I had reserved, I was told that it has been occupied ;( and that I came too late. This is around 3PM. I had told Daniel that I would stay there on the 16th to catch a flight the next day.
If Danield can fix the reservation issues then I will give him a higher score, otherwise I would stay somewhere else and eat here.

Hostal Daniel
This is a nice place to stay in Holguin, Daniel and his son (a future inventor and a great story teller) had a great hospitality. The room is very confortable, and we could park our car in the property. Near Holguin we visit Guardalavaca and playa Pesqueroone of the best beaches in Cuba.

Casa Hostal Daniel
This was a fantastic find. We stayed here at the start and end of a 3 week tour and you would be hard pushed to find somewhere better. Daniel is a fantastic host and with his wife they did everything they could to make our stay memorable. The room is excellent. Clean, airy and roomy. No problem with the fridge belting out heat as its in a separate part of the casa. Daniel's English is excellent and we spent a lot of our time talking to him about Cuba. His cuban made turbine on the roof is interesting. He made arrangements for us to see the surrounding area which worked smoothly. We cannot speak too highly of this casa and would recommend it 100%. The food was excellent. Daniel asked us what we wanted and portion sizes were manageable. A really friendly family. We would book again on a! return to Holguin. Book early.

Casa Hostal Daniel
Very pleasant time there. Bed was comfortable, lovely relaxing patio. Best of all was the advice and assistance offered by Daniel, priceless.

How was your room?: Comfortable, never even used the a/c. Fridge full of cold water, pop and beer.
How was the food the offer?: For Cuba it was excellent. His wife served up some very tasty dishes and forget about the "Cuban diet" because I definitely gained weight! I'm a vegetarian but that was no problem. The convenience of an in-house patio restaurant is well worth it. I wouldn't have wanted to have to deal with finding 3 decent meals a day on the streets of Holguin!
Other services they offer: Daniel is very generous with his time and we spent many hours biking around the city and the countryside which is the best way to experience the country.
Other comments: When I return to Cuba I will make it a point to visit with Daniel and his family again.

Casa Hostal Daniel
This is an excellent, spotlessly clean, very peaceful little hideaway with comfortable beds and a lovely outdoor garden "dining room." There are two air-conditioned, spacious rooms, each with a small dining area with table and chairs and refrigerator. Daniel and Vivien and family are warm and welcoming. Meals are delicious and very generous with fresh squeezed orange juice, delicious ham and cheese omelets, abundant fresh fruit and excellent coffee in the morning -- and a variety of suburb seafood dishes, served with fried plantains, rice and beans, and lots of other fresh vegetables, fruit and salads. The bustling little city of Holguin is a pleasant and interesting 20-minute walk -- or take a horse and buggy taxi and sit back and relax. We had a glorious and relaxing few days and can't wait to return.

Casa Hostal Daniel
We are a few times in casa Daniel and it was really very good every morning the breakfast with fresh fruit coffee tea bread egg juice. There are very kind for us and the rooms are very good. We enjoy always when we are there and come 2 times in a year back.
