My review: Roberto, Judy and their family are wonderful hosts and really beautiful people. They are very accommodating and happily went the extra mile to ensure we had what we needed. Roberto taught my husband how to roast coffee, they gave us juice or coffee when we returned from our long walks, they made our special favourites at mealtime, and they cleaned our room every day. Roberto speaks fair English, and his older daughter is also willing to practice hers, but we've decided that staying in casas with no English is just another chance to practice our Spanish! The location is about 20 minutes walking distance from the center of town, and it's a nice walk. Or it's only two blocks from the horse and cart taxis. The rooms (we've stayed in both the upper and lower suite) are really spacious, with a tv, fridge, place to hang clothes, table and chairs and a sitting area outside. The bathroom is fine, as long as you remember to turn the switch for the heater about 10 minutes before showering. I'm not a fan of the bathroom doors, which lock from the outside, but can't be closed from the inside, and are see-through! But not a big deal... the casa is wonderful and Judy and her mom are EXCELLENT cooks!!!!

How was your room?: The room is large, extremely clean and has TV, table and chairs, a place to hang clothes, air conditioning and a fan. The mattress is comfortable, and the bathroom is typically Cuban. The only thing I didn't care for is the see-through bathroom door that can't be closed from the inside, but it wasn't bad enough to worry about and I will definitely stay there again.
How was the food they offer?: Our hosts went out of their way to provide our favourite dishes and the food was plentiful and delicious. No complaints at all.

Villa Betina

My review: We tried to get in another casa which was full, so they recommended this place. We felt disappointed but Angel and Betina turned out to be great hosts of a wonderful casa. The central location is great, the rooms are clean and comfortable. They were great with our kids 15 and 11. They helped us find a perfect place to stay in Guardalavaca.
We ate really good home cooked food. The coffee was especially good. They were genuinely nice people. Stay here

How was your room?: The room was a good size with good furniture and fittings.
How was the food they offer?: Very tasty and well prepared. There was a good range of healthy and tasty food. They catered excellently for the children. Breakfast was very nice and the coffee was the best in cuba.
Other services they offer: Helped us to plan our days and visits.
Other comments: In one night they made us feel very welcome and part of their extended family

My review: C'est une casa particular unique à 4 km de la petite ville de Mayari.
Karina et Raul sont des hôtes attentionnés et il font tout pour rendre votre séjour inoubliable. Les chambres sont très confortables et la terrasse est magnifique.C'est un endroit idéal pour des cyclistes car la casa est sur la route principale.
Si je retourne dans cette région, je m'arrête chez eux c'est certain.
De plus, les repas sont délicieux, préparés avec soin et servis avec élégance.
Merci aux deux jeunes hôtes et longue vie à la casa

My review: Simply excellent. The casa is slightly out of Mayari town in a very nice quiet area. It is much more private then most other casas I stayed in. The host are very nice, Karina speaks good english. One of the room is like a mini house with full kitchen. Its a must stop for anybody biking the oriente.

My review: I may be giving this 5 stars because it was such a haven after a hard day of biking on rough roads and hot hot sun. There is a lovely upstairs room with a private entrance, bathroom with shower and hot water. A nice back garden, excellent food and terrific hosts.
