Berito's and Margarita's happy Casa La Campestre is located at the end of Vinales center in a cozy side street, very Cuban. Berito is a terrific cook, we had dinner and had the best frijoles of Cuba ever! and believe me we did eat some frijoles in Cuba for the next couple of years :) This can be a very busy house with people going in and out, recommended for those who want the REAL Cuban experience The bedroom is a nice romantic in white colored place to sleep, with mosquito nets and a big private bathroom.

Review

We were two weeks in Cuba and only a couple of nights here but it was definetlely one of the highlights! Berito cooking skills are amazing and the portions are huge, if you are there you have to ask her to delight you with the "Pollo a lo Berito". YOU WONT REGRET IT. Her and her familly are one of those hosts that truly make you feel that you are visiting your own familly rather than just renting a room. Also they would go the extra mile to help you doing what ever you are planning to do in Vinales (horses, excursions, the caves etc).In short, we didnt try any of the other houses, but we couldnt recomend highly enough Beritos House (La campestre).

How was your room?: The room had everything you would expoect in Cuba.

Beside, in Vinales there is soooo much to do that you wont be in the room so much.
How was the food they offer?: Delicious, aboundant, freshly cooked, great choice.AMAZING
Being arround Berito you wont starve. Promise!
Prices are more than reasonable and depend what you want to eat (8-12CUC)
Other services they offer: Problably anything you ask. Berito is an amazing hoist and goes the extra mile to help when possible.
Other comments: Dont miss the chance to stay in this wonderfull Casa.

Casa La Campestre

What a fabulous place to stay. We were welcomed very warmly. A friend who spoke english fetched us from the bus stop. Although Berito and Papito don't speak english and we don't speak spanish they had endless patience with us trying to understand one another. Berito is so animated anyway i could understand her very easily. The room was very comfortable and food excellent and so much! The afternoon coffees on the porch absolutely great. Berito had a neighbour over most afternoons that spoke english - Neala and we had some good conversations and found out quite a bit about Cuba and Vinales and people's lifestyles this way. Berito also accommodated me very well when i needed to prepare some meals for us (out of choice).

How was your room?: Clean, neat and spacious. Quite pretty. En suite bathroom. Very comfortable.
How was the food the offer?: excellent: we had chicken cooked in a beer sauce and lobster. What lobster that was. the food was more than enough on both occasions that we had supper. accompanied by salad, home made potatoe chips(yum yum)and a bean soup to start which was gorgeous. breakfast was good too and plentiful. Antie Berito was always on hand with the coffee through out the day.
Other services they offer: Contact with horse riding in the valley.
Other comments: Thanks Berito and Pepito. What a haven after the busy and clamorous habana. Berito has done lots of little extras for us without any charge and in this world those litle things really mean a lot.x

How was your room?: Clean, typical Cuban, enough space, cozy.
How was the food the offer?: We loved Beritos cooking. Especialy the Creool chicken.
Other services they offer: They arranged contact with someone for the horse riding in Vinales. Extra service as surprise: shoe cleaning after the horse riding :)
Other comments: Berito is a lovely woman with a big smile and hart. She does everything to make you feel welcome. Many thanks!!!

I booked at this Casa but got bumped to another casa. So my reveiw is not about this particular casa but the fact that you can book one so easily but get bumped to another.  In other towns, tehy tell you if you are being bumped to another. But this was not the case for us. Or for many we met.

Our casa was not so great. The weather was cold while we were there and we were really uncompfortable at night as there was not enough bedding. My daugher was sick and I covered her in my own clothes.  Food was good on one night but not on another. Not much advice either for us.  Our owner did not speak English and we did not speak Spanish. So we had minimal interaction. We booked a hike through the casa and then learned that we paid much more for it than if we booked through a touring agency or a hotel.

So a note for you all - confirm when you arrive if you are actually staying where you booked. If not - move on.

How was your room?: The room was fine but could have used more bedding.
How was the food the offer?: Really good on some nights and not so good on others

Best stay for us in Cuba. Within 5 minutes after our arrival we booked for another day because of the excellent receipt and the connection we experienced. We were not disappointed, Mammie Berito proved to be the best cook and together with Margarita and Pappie the best hosts we had. We cried when leaving this new family and are convinced that we will stay here once again.
