Casa Chicha
My review: We spent 3 weeks in cuba. First we had been three nights in Havana, than travelled araound and we knew, we would come back to Havana after two and a half week with a flight from Santiago, landing in Havana late. Therefore we looked for a casa particular where we could stay after returning from Santiago. On the website of "cubajunkey" we found "Casa Chicha", which sounded nice, so we went there to maka a reservation. "Chicha" opended whwn we knocked at her door. She told us, she could make a reservation, but she would like to have the payment before. so we payed for the first night of our return to Havana. I asked if I should confirm before returning, she said that would not be necessary if we pay for the reservation - the cost for one night (30 cuc).
When we returned to Havana after travelling around we knocked at her door at 1 am. (we informed her when we booked that we would come late because of the flight from Santiago). She told us, that we couldn't sleep there because they'd problems with the water- after some questions it was clear, she gave the room to other tourists. She said, she thought, we wouldn't come, because we were not there in the afternoon.
We paid for the room - she got the rent twice. Chicha was the only bad experience we had in Cuba, but it really was not funny to find a place to sleep in the middle of the night...
How was your room?: We never saw it
How was the food they offer?: No chance to taste it

My review: I had originally reserved with another casa but was moved to this one since there were plumbing problems with original casa. Despite being originally sceptical I was eventually pleasantly surprised. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and the casa family are exceptionally warm and supportive. This was where I spent New Years Eve and it turned out to be a truly memorable experience.

How was your room?: Clean and comfortable.
How was the food they offer?: Good food that was freshly prepared.
Other services they offer: Laundry and assistance with transfer arrangements.
Other comments: An enjoyable an amiable family to chat to.

My review: This is a small casa but with a perfect location for Habana Vieja. It has two rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. We had the upstairs room with a double bed, ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, fan and fridge and a view over the street through a tiny window. Our hosts, Chicha and Luis, were friendly, helpful and informative. The accommodation was a bit more squashed than some of the rooms we had in other places, but it was very comfortable and very convenient. We also felt very welcome and relaxed, so much so that we returned to the same place for two nights before catching our flight home. I would recommend this for a stay in Havana.

How was your room?: Comfortable, convenient, but not very roomy.
