My review: On the top floor of a 4 story building, the room of this casa is for me the best place to appreciated Havana. Few minutes walking from the Malecon, the University, the Hotel National and the famous ice cream Coppelia, the Armando's casa is a choice you won't regret. Beautiful and very clean bathroom. There is also the perfect balcony to enjoy the view and vibe the city.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Elegant, Comfortable, Safe
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony, Bathroom with shower
How was the food they offer?: Armando do not offer food, but Vedado is surrounded by goods restaurants.
Other services they offer: You will enjoy the room, but above all, you will appreciated Armando, the host. He's a incredible source of valuables infos on all the mains attractions, but even more about the underground life of cuban reality. He speaks perfect french and english.

Casa Idania
Address: Calle 25 #1061, E/ Calle 4 y 6, Havana Vedado, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8309760

Hidden behind high cement walls, with extensive plantings all around, the Casa Idania offered us a lovely, clean, quiet, and private place to rest at the end of our two week trip to Cuba. Idania and her husband Enrique greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm and quickly made us feel comfortable and welcome. They offer a closed, private parking area and two separate rooms for guests, each with private entrances and outdoor patios. Although Idania doesn't speak English, she is able to understand enough to help guests in any way she can. We saw the second bedroom, which appeared to be larger than ours, but we were perfectly comfortable with our room. Because we ate breakfast out the one day we were there, we don't know if this service is offered.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Comfertable, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Safe, Garden, Pets in the house, Patio
Amenities: Internet, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Garden, Queensize bed, Bathroom with shower, Private parking
How was your room?: Our room had a comfortable, queen size platform bed, air conditioning, a small refrigerator and a bathroom with shower. Lovely old Spanish tiles covered the floor.
How was the food the offer?: We didn't eat at this casa.

Casa de Melida Jordan
Address: Calle 25 #1102, e/ Calle 6 y 8, Havana Vedado, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8335219

We stayed for our first 2 days in Cuba in this inviting and comfortable casa particular. We liked it and the owner so much, that we stayed there at the end of our two week trip for our last night. It felt like we were coming home. The owner, Diana Mesa, is a wordly, warm, intelligent, completely bi-lingual and very accommodating host. We arrived several hours late at 2:30 a.m. and she was up to greet us and orient us to our spacious room. Diana helped us to make reservations for our rental car, arranged cabs, reconfirmed our airline reservations, allowed us to make free local and in-country calls, and familiarized us with the neighborhood and how to get around all of Havana. The house is hidden behind a wall with lovely plantings and a commodious patio exclusively for guests with fou! r rocking chairs and end tables, lots of plants and privacy. To dine, we walked upstairs and directly into the family's nicely appointed living room (really interesting art work)and eat on a small, private covered patio on the second floor with lots of light streaming in through a gigantic banana tree.

Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Safe, Garden, Patio
Amenities: Internet, Private entrance, Private bathroom, Minibar, Laundry service, Garden, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower, Private parking
How was your room?: Our room was huge and clean, had two double beds pushed together with individual reading lights behind each bed, a large dresser, and two night tables. Although the room was not airconditioned, there were two ceilings fans and two standing fans that kept us extremely comfortable even on the hottest nights. Iron gates at the front and side louvered windows contributed to a total feeling of security and privacy. The small bathroom was totally functional. There was a small refrigerator in the room stocked with bottles of water and soda. The room cost 25 CUCs per night.
How was the food they offer?: We only ate breakfasts at the casa and they were freshly prepared, abundant and cooked to our own tastes. Every morning we counted on the overflowing plates of fresh mango, pineapple, papaya, banana and mamey. We also loved the freshly squeezed fruit juice, excellent scrambled eggs and onions, fruit jam and wonderful, rich Cuban coffee. Breakfast cost 4 CUCs per person. Dining on the covered patio was delightful.
Other services they offer: We had our laundry done twice. The charge was 4 CUCs for 10 lbs and everything came back beautifully folded.
Other comments: Our host, Diana, speaks English with barely an accent and she is conversant on many subjects, had traveled extensively prior to the Revolution and brings a sophistication that is uncommon for many of her contemporaries who did not have that opportunity. Her adult son, Pavel, is often present in the house and very eager to test his English and help with guidance in any way he can.

Casa Juana Y Manuel
Address: Calle 25 # 1112 bajos entre 6 y 8, Havana Vedado, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8335123

I selected this Casa Particular based on a review here. That review was NOT accurate. Over the week I stayed in both rooms. The beds were NOT comfortable. They were the worst I have ever slept in. There was NOT hot water 24 hours a day. Out of 8 days, I only had hot water twice. There were even times when I was in the shower and the water (only cold) stopped completely. The house is NOT just a few minutes from Hotel Havana Libre and Malecon. The house, bedrooms and kitchen were dirty and the bedrooms were NOT quiet. On the positive side: the price was cheap and Juana and Manuel were warm and friendly. One bedroom has a private bath.

Casa style: No frills,
Amenities: Airconditioning, Laundry service, Garden, Ceiling fan
How was your room?: Noisy, dirty bathroom and uncomfortable bed.
How was the food the offer?: Substantial amounts but cleanliness questionable (bugs all over kitchen counters).

Walking distance to the Malecon and the National Hotel. A beautifully kept ground floor apartment in an old villa with two rooms for guests and a shared bathroom with original yet comfortable fittings. Havana is already a very romantic city and this house adds to the romance even more with its beautiful high corniced ceilings, great wooden window shutters and original artwork. Martha and Julio are wonderful hosts, very eager to welcome us in and make us happy. Even though we were only able to stay for one night, they treated us as part of the family. Martha prepared a huge feast of traditional dishes and Julio kept us entertained with his stories about life in Cuba. Both speak good English and are very friendly and open. They arranged taxis for us and sent us off to the airport with a hearty breakfast and warm wishes. A great place to stay in Havana - close enough to Havana Viejo to experience all the sights, but just far enough away to sleep in quiet and splendour.

Casa Aida Castellanos with family
Calle G, No 571, apto 2, Esquina a 25, Vedado, La Habana, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8325402

ca 35 euro including breakfast and a great dinner
laundry service available

1 block from La Rampa (Calle 23) and about 4 blocks from Hotel Habana Libre.
Walking distance to Malécon and numerous restaurants and bars. It's easy to walk or get a taxi to Habana Vieja o Centro Habana. By night it's safe to walk around, even alone as a girl. The streets nearby the house always have lights and gards.

This is really the best casa I've ever stayed in in Cuba, and I have visited quite a few! I find myself returning to this casa time and time again and I always recommend it to friends visiting Cuba. This isn't a casa that is huge and luxurious. It's a small apartment filled with Cuban charm and love. Abuela Aida takes care of you as if you were part of the family. They welcome you to stay in their living room watching TV and really make you feel like a true Cuban and part of the family. They can also help you if you need Spanish classes or salsa classes.

The room has air condition, private bathroom, refrigerator and a private entrance to the street. Just outside it's a nice park where you can sit and watch the Cuban way of daily life.

It's highly recommended to stay here!!!

Edifico Altamira
Calle O esquina 21, habitacion # 76, 7th floor, Havana Vedado Cuba

my first day in Habana was the worst.
i counted my money before i entered the casa.
i left my stuff in the casa for just 30 minutes. before i went out the owner said that i have to leave all my money in the room because i can be robbed. i left. After i returned i counted my money and found that 700 Euros were gone. i knew that they took my money, but I couldn't prove that
please keep in mind that you should never stay at this casa

Casa Ania & Joel
(unfortunately no address)
Tel: +53 7 8704881

I'm just back from a few weeks in Havana and I stayed in a wonderful casa, it was in between centro and verdado. It would be great if you could add it to your list on Cuba Junky as this casa is the reason I fell in love with Cuba. it is Ania and Joel and I really felt like I was part of their family.
We paid 20 CUC a night for two of us and that included a big breakfast every morning. Ania and Joel also help organise trips to Vinales and Varadero and they got us "local price" on the wah-wahs instead of travelling like tourists for expensive prices.
