Stay at a farm just outside the city of Trinidad de Cuba. A real farm with goats, cows, horses, pigs, chicken and all that belongs to a farm. There is also a friendly staff who takes care of the farm and it's animals.
Herman, who is Dutch and we think a kind of Duke ;) and Yolanda, the owners, also have a casa particular in the center of Trinidad (Casa A Bienvenido En El Holandes) and their farm, finca in Spanish, is a real treat for nature- animal lovers and of course families with kids.
Unique in Cuba for travelers; chill at the porch, feed the chicken, milk the goats and hop on a horse just in front of your house, now that’s vacation! :)

Finca Aventura Holandes

My review: This is a very special experience. You are on your own, staying on a little farm with a cuban farmer family. They take good care of you, You get a good feeling how local life is in the country side. If you have kids who like animals, it will be even a better experience. There is no transport with cars, so your transport will be horse and carriage As you will see most of the time. There are hammocks on the porch and under the tree to relax. And the owner will take you to a trip to see old sugar plantations and to a waterfall/ natural pool. Specially the evening meal is like a 3 course meal. Enjoy the quietness of no traffic and be surrounded by natural sounds!
I hope you will have the same wonderful time as we had!

How was your room?: very big, with 2 doulbe size beds

How was the food they offer?: dinner very good, breakfast fine. You might take some snacks with you, since there are no shops around

Finca Aventura Holandesa, Valle de los ingenios

My review: Excellent casa. We wholeheartedly recommend staying here with Yuder and his family. We were travelling with a 3yo and a 1yo and they were so welcoming - e.g. offering to make us milk in the night for the baby etc and all their farm employees were so happy to show us and our children everything that they were doing.
The farm and the setting are both amazing, both for children and for adults. Our children loved watching the cows, goats, chickens and horses and playing with the incredibly friendly dogs etc, walking down to watch the train come and stop, the horse and cart rides and riding off to the waterfall which was an incredible place to swim for kids too. The food was wonderful, lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and juices. This felt like an incredible glimpse of the real countryside Cuba. Friendly wonderful people, beautiful scenes, NO mosquitos or bugs at all. amazing moon and stars.

How was your room?: excellent

How was the food they offer?: wonderful - so much fresh fruit and vegetables and juices

Other services they offer: horse cart rides so fun - trip to waterfall. really enjoyed seeing how the farm worked, feeding the animals, watching the water be delivered and pumped into the tank etc.

Casa Finca Aventura Holandesa

My review: The night at the farm was a highlight (if not "the" highlight) of our (a family of four) Cuba trip. The ride out on horseback, with a stop half way for a swim in a pool beneath a trickling waterfall, was excellent and probably rather unique for Cuba.

The atmosphere on the farm is idyllic - calm, warm, and quiet, with farm animals (horses, cattle, goats, ducks, chickens).

Udel and his wife and toddler son are lovely. Udel is very knowledgeable and a good horseman and guide. Udel and his farm hand took us back to Trinidad the other way (completing the circle), by horse and buggy, which was fun, too. From Trinidad, the farm is on the other side of the mountain with the tower on it.

How was your room?: The bedroom has two big open-air windows, with shudders, and two big beds. Basic shower and bathroom.

How was the food they offer?: The food was excellent, although I've forgotten the details.

Casa Finca Aventura Holandesa

My review: We spent one night in Casa Finca Aventure Holandesa and it was very special.
The silence of the valley with no other houses around, no traffic at all. The only sound we heard was the sound of silence (and the animals).
You are hosted by a friendly and helpful young family.
The house is clean, you are the only visitors and privacy is therefore guaranteed.

How was your room?: A fantastic kingsize bed.
Big and clean room.

How was the food they offer?: The food was good. We loved the pumpkin soup.

Other services they offer: Through Yunel and Herman we had a fantastic drive by horse&car from Trinidad to the finca.
Yunel was our 'guide' and horserider. He knows the area thoroughly and can tell you much about it. We took a wonderful route, passing the waterfall where we had a nice swim. On the way there we were treated a very special cup of coffee.
The landscape is wonderful.
Don't forget to wear a cap or hat, because the sun can be tough.
