Hostal Maritza Hernández Santos
Address: Francisco Cadahía (Gracia) #223 e/Colón y Lino Pérez, Trinidad, Cuba
Tel: +53 41 993160

My review: We made reservations through the travel assistant, Ivette, at the Hotel Florida in Havana, and were absolutely delighted with everything about Maritza's casa.
There are no words to describe the warmth and love we felt during our 3 days there, and we would return in an instant if we could. She and all her family were so welcoming and gracious, and the accommodations superlative.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Elegant, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Patio
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: We stayed 3 nights and the room was excellent! On the 2nd floor, it opened onto a terrace where we had our meals. Very clean, cool, and comfortable! Above the terrace was a rooftop where we could look out over Trinidad and see the amazing patterns of color, architecture, mountains, trees and flowers.
How was the food they offer?: Absolutely delicious! Fresh, local, beautifully prepared. We are trying to duplicate some of the offerings now that we are home.
Other services they offer: Very helpful with directions around Trinidad. We were especially delighted when Maritza asked if we would like to ride horses, and our guide Jorge gave us an excellent tour for several hours through the forest and fields, stopping for a cold drink in a clearing where they were pressing sugar cane. We felt as if we were part of that beautiful countryside.
On another day, Maritza arranged for a taxi to take us to Playa Ancón and return, also as grand an experience as she predicted!
Other comments: We felt at home at Maritza's casa the entire time, and the crowning experience was our last evening there, when, during dinner, to our surprise, a local singer/song-writer (Osiel Ramírez) appeared on the terrace and began to play guitar and sing. His songs were so beautiful, and fun as well when we and Maritza's entire family got up and danced the evening away. This casa and family are true jewels.

Hostal Casa la Curva
Address: 25 Calle Piro Guinart, Trinidad, Cuba

My review: My wife and I spent a most enjoyable stay at the Hostal Casa la Curva at the end of March2012. The hosts Idalmis and Juan are very nice and helpful people. The house is very clean , quiet and is the perfect place for a rest cure with very comfortable rooms and especially a very large garden at the rear of the house where you can walk or lie under the palms or fruit trees. The Hostal Casa is conveniently located 5 minutes walk from the Old Town or 6-7 minute walk from downtown.
There is also a very safe and ample free parking.

Sr. Miranda y Familia
Address: Calle Antonio Maceo #373-A, Trinidad, Cuba

My review: great casa. amazing food. great location close to the centre and the casa de la musica. friendly and helpful host family that took care of us well. well exceeded our expectations.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Patio
Amenities: TV, Private bathroom, Minibar, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: great, there was a desk fan but no aircon. private balcony and rooftop area. One double bed plus a single.
How was the food they offer?: we very quickly learned that this casa has way better food than anything you can get in the restaurants in Trinidad, so we ate as many meals as we could here! breakfast was eggs any style you want, vegetables fresh fruit, rolls, butter, coffee and amazing fresh fruit smoothies. dinner each night was was a combination/variation of fish, chicken, bean soup, vege soup, fried bananas, french fries, fruit, salad, rice with vegetables (we didnt have all of that every night but over our 4 day stay that was some of the dishes they served - each dinner we had about 5 dishes between the 3 of us.) portions are more than generous and they asked what we wanted to eat each night - then made it specially for us! caters well for vegetarians.
Other services they offer: very helpful when we asked about tours. they speak english but will humour you if you want to practise your spanish :P lovely people.

we went to the tour office to book a trip to cienfuegos and we were quoted 43 per person by bus. We told Jorge who got us in touch with someone who gave us a private tour for the 3 of us for 50!

the family seems well known and respected in trinidad so they have many contacts and are happy to help you out. my airline lost my luggage which didnt arrive for the first few days, and jorge showed us the store to buy essentials, and his wife offered me her clothes to wear! amazing hospitality.

Hostal Valmaseda
Address: Camilo Cienfuegos 180, Trinidad, Cuba
Tel: +53 5 2770915

My review: Hands down, our favorite casa in Cuba was Hostal Valmaseda in Trinidad at the home of Iris and Conrado. This home was special because from the moment they met us at the bus station, they treated us as family and by the end of our first day, we felt as if we had known them for years and this was more a homecoming than a tourist/cultural stop.

Conrado was our guide through the city and introduced us to so many people, other restaurant and casa owners, as well as his family and friends. He made sure that we do all the information we needed and I carelessly sprained my ankle and my foot looked like a football, the family not only accompanied my to the doctor's office, but road with me in the ambulance and made sure that my entire process went smoothly and that I understood what was happening. We really did feel like a part of their family.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Roomy, Charming, Safe, Children in the house, Patio
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Our room was very clean and had two queen size beds in it as well as a very large armoire for our cloths. The room was very cozy and with windows on two wall we didn't need to use the air-conditioner because of the nice cross winds. The bathroom is ensuite and was also very clean.
How was the food they offer?: We had all of our meals at the home and they were very good. On the first night there we had delicious shrimp and on the second night we had fantastic chicken.
Other services they offer: Iris, the wife, works at the Museo Romantico and is a wealth of information, also Conrado was a perfect guide to the city.

Address: Miguel Calzada (Borrell) 114, e/Lino Perez y Camilio Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Cuba
Tel: +53 41 998099 and +53 5 2818446

My review: I loved this casa. It has a great courtyard where we had sundowners every night. Clean, spacious bedrooms with en-suite facilities and towels. Friendly family and very helpful. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner here every day. Alberto has a chef cooking for his guests who prepares the most delicious dishes and generous portions too. We were met off the bus from Vinales and to my surprise he had us dropped off at the bus station at the end of our stay. I would love to return, but will definitly extend my stay to 7 nights instead of 4. I think we were lucky to have found this little gem - I assume not a big secret anymore, but good for him - he is a hard worker who aims to please.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Roomy, Patio
Amenities: Safety box, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Laundry service, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower, Private parking
How was your room?: Clean and tidy. I really don't spend much time in a room. As long as the bed is comfortable and there is hot running water - I'm happy.
How was the food they offer?: Fantastic!!! Best meals served here in all of Cuba!
Other services they offer: Pick-up and drop-off from bus station.

Casa Jesus
Address: Francisco Cadahia 228, Trinidad, Cuba
Tel: +53 41 99 4988 / +53 5 2949444

My review: Casa Jesus is by far the greatest house we stayed at in Cuba!!
It is a wonderful pretty and cosy place, with the cutest bedrooms you have ever seen. The rooms are located around a patio with stairs that go to a rooftop terrace. The view from up here is amazing and super romantic. The nights are calm and quiet.
Jesús is a great cook, he and his people make sure you have the best dinner you will eat in Cuba. They also have a cocktail bar and do everything to make you feel at home. If you don't have the change of staying in his casa, make sure at least you go for dinner at his casa.
Jesús knows a lot of people and is super friendly and always there for a chat. If you want to know something or go somewhere, arrange it through him. He will arrange you everything and gets you your personal guides (instead of going with a group of tourists).
At casa Jesús I felt at home, part of the family, safe, healthy and the nights were quiet. Like I said, the greatest place!!

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Elegant, Comfortable, Colonial, Cozy, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Patio
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Kingsize bed, Bathroom with tub, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Nice, clean, airconditioning, good beds, big bathroom with bathtub and shower.
How was the food they offer?: The best I had in Cuba!
Other services they offer: They know everything you can do around Trinidad, make sure you ask them.

Hostal Rigoberto Magaleno Becquer
Address: Antonio Guiteras #108, Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus, Cuba
Tel: +53 41 993428

My review: This casa has 2 upper floor rooms with a common outdoor lounging deck. The rooms seem new, the brand labels are still on the toilets. When I first sat down, I thought I was the first person to use it, the bathroom was so clean. Beautifully tiled and lighted. From the outside decks your can see the mountains, the street scene below and gorgeous sunsets with dramatic cloud formations. The outdoor hammock was a favorite with us. The 2 meals we had here were very good, fresh fruits and lobsters, pleasantly presented. Next door we watched a young man feeding and exercising his pigeons. Also another family next door is building a rental casa on top of their house (noisy during the day).

Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful, Safe
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Our room was bright, sunny, felt new with attractive floor tiles, clean, provate, noisy during the day (should be quiet by mid 2012). I was very impressed with this casa and host.
How was the food they offer?: Our 2 meals were excellent, on pare with a 4 star hotel we stayed in later in our trip. Plenty of fresh fruit, super breakfast omelets, good main course dinner, delicious coffee.

Casa La Terraza - Martha y Ruben

My review: Very good location, at a short walking distance from central area and music places.
Owners (Martha y Ruben)are helpful and friendly; feel you to be part of their family.
Overall situation is just perfect; the guests room (in effect a big suite, terraza included) is totally independent from the owners casa, located on the top of the house, and gives full privacy, also for meals (on the terraza).

Casa de Sobeida

My review: Once you get inside the house is beautifully furnished with great attention to detail with wall-hangings paintings and plants in the eating area and patio in the back; Food was very good and quite reasonable ( breakfast CUC 3 and Dinner CUC 8 for shrimp) served on tasteful service on embroidered table clothes. All contributed to very pleasant atmosphere. Very nice, freshly varnished locally made rustic-style furniture in eating area and bedroom seemed the newest and best maintained we saw anywhere in cuba. Back bedroom had two very comfortable queen beds, pleasant synthetic (not rough wool) blankets separate toilet (with seat) and shower with up to date fittings ( you said it was the most modern). I often stay in 5 star hotels for business despite my proletarian travel beginnin! gs, so I can appreciate varying levels of quality. Sobeida , her husband and daughter ( who speaks reasonable English) were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They made a point of saying they were expecting us from the email reservation (we arrived ~ 2030). When we asked for breakfast at 0730 to get an early start ˆ everything was on the table when we got there at 0729.
In short , this was one of the nicest B&B‚s I have ever been to and a fantastic find at CUC ($)25 a night per room , even for Cuba

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful
Amenities: Parking service, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Garden, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: fantastic
How was the food they offer?: fine
