How did you make the reservation?: The casa directly
How much did you pay per night?: 25CUC plus 4CUC pp for breakfast
This is a small but perfect Casa Particular - 1 room on a more or less quiet street (the rooster crows next door early morning) run by a congenial couple: Sergio and Clara. Sergio speaks fluent Spanish, English, French and Russian and teaches in a nearby school. Clara only speaks Spanish. Room rental in January 201 was 25 CUC a night with a good double bed, private bathroom, refrigerator and air conditioning (which we did not need), They can arrange airport transportation (at the standard price of10 CUC). Breakfast is available at $4 CUC @ and is copious and delicious. Laundry service available. Their home is a short walk to the center of the historical district or Plaza Marti. Good small restaurants nearby. We stayed a week and felt like part of the family. No website but usually a quick response to email. s.acosta@nauta.cu
How was your room?: Excellent, clean and comfortable.
How was the food they offer?: Breakfast was huge - lots of fresh fruit, fruit juice which was made every day, toast, coffee, tea, a grilled cheese sandwich, eggs, and (if we had room) a small dessert.
Other services they offer: Laundry service is available, Airport delivery or pickup can be arranged.

casa de sergio y clara
My review: Excellent hosts, very friendly, sergio is an english teacher and as I was travelling with a friend who spoke no spanish this was very helpful as he and clara made us comfortable in their home. Location was excellent only 5mins walk to centre of town in a historic peaceful location near a lovely old church. Also felt very safe walking home at night after a night of dancing. Sergio also introduced us to Aurora restaraunt which was excellent and only a few metres from the casa. Only 1 double room available which my friend stayed in but I was accomodated by a family member in a lovely casa round the corner. This casa is perfect for solo travellers or close friends but as in close proximity to other casa can be close to friends in group/family. Clara prepared us an excellent huge breakfast every morning which swt us up for the day. Guest room has aircon and bathroom. Sergio and Clara were also a great help with booking us casas throughout cuba for the rest of our trip as with limited spanish skills speaking on the phone could be a challenge. I would definetely stay here on my return to santiago.
How was your room?: Clean double bed with aircon and bathroom.
How was the food they offer?: Good quality fresh food and huge portions
Other services they offer: Very helpful and accomodating with any request. Also offered laundry service

Casa Sergio Acosta Santana y Clara Leyva Torres
My review: The owners are great! We (my girlfriend and I) arrived Santiago in the evening and Sergio was there at the bus station waiting for us, even though he had to leave early from work for that. The bus station there is full of hustlers so it was a relief to have someone there waiting for us.
Sergio is an English teacher, so he speaks perfect English, which was nice, since our Spanish is not that good. He made us feel very welcome to his house right from the start.
The room we stayed in was very cosy and had a private bathroom and air-conditioning. Naturally you can also hang out in the patio or in the living room. We always ate breakfast and dinner at the casa. The meals were terrific and really big. The breakfast was the cheapest we had in our trip to Cuba and it had everything in it and everything was really tasty!
The location is great, because it's close to the city center but still far enough from all the noise. You can easily walk to the center and even at night it felt safe.
Sergio is very helpful and he gives you tips about things to do and places to go in Santiago. We felt that we could ask him anything and he was happy to help us.
We wish all the best to Sergio and Clara!

Review: Casa Sergio and Clara is a wonderful place to stay in the downtown area of Santiago, walking distance to Casa Granda, Casa de la Trova, and all the other sites. Sergio is an English professor and speaks perfect English (and Russian). Both he and his bubbly wife, Clara, treat their guests as part of the family and will do anything to make your stay more pleasant. The house is very safe and there's always a family member at home to assure that safety. If you are looking for a cozy arrangement with a real, warm, trustworthy Cuban family, this is the place for you. Note that there's also an ensuite, private bathroom and air-conditioning in the guest room.
Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Charming, Safe, Patio
Amenities: TV, Safety box, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: The room has a double bed and a single one, and while it's not giant, guests also have use of the ample living room and the lovely, sunfilled patio at the back of the house. There a fridge for guest use, stocked with boiled drinking water.
How was the food they offer?: Clara's meal service is fantasticabundant, delicious homecooking at a fair price.
Other services they offer: Laundry service available; taxi service on demand; local phone calls.
