Villa Maria
My review: Very nice casa in residential area of Vedado, close to Plaza de la Revolucion and La Rampa (although might be too far to walk for some). Rooms were very clean and breakfast was great. The owner is a very sweet lady who does not speak much English but we got by with my minimal Spanish. Recommended.

My review: This is a clean and comfortable casa in a very nice residential area. We stayed here for four nights. It was very quiet at night, so I had a great night's sleep every night.
How was your room?: The room was very private with its own bathroom, which was sparkling clean and provided with towels, a bathmat and soap. The shower always had hot running water at a good pressure. You could lock the door to the room during the day and night.
How was the food they offer?: Breakfast was served in the corridor which was sort of a courtyard and was plentiful and tasty: fresh fruit, fresh juice (guava, mango, pineapple), lovely fresh bread, an omelet with cheese and ham and nice hot coffee.
Other services they offer: There is a minibar in the room that always is stocked with beer, water and soft drinks. There is a laundry service and a safe box (at a charge).
Other comments: Maria is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. However, she does not speak a word of English, so bring your Spanish phrasebook! She is a shrewd businesswoman and carefully accounts for the breakfast, items from the minibar, and other services. It was a lovely stay and I would highly recommend this lovely home for a short or extended stay in Havana.

Casa Maria
My review: Great location in quiet and residential Vedado. Lovely and friendly family (English spoken). Clean and spacious bedroom and bathroom. Although it's 40CUC a night (most places are 30CUC or 35CUC) it's definitely worth it. The breakfast was great (fresh fruit juice, bread, eggs, breakfast meat etc.). The house itself is beautifully well-kept.
How was your room?: Spacious, clean, air-conditioned. The bed and pillows weren't great, but they never are in Cuba. There was plenty of storage space in the beautiful mahogany furniture. There's a vanity and a full-length mirror. There are 2 doors - one to the outside corridor and the other to the bathroom. All very private.
How was the food they offer?: Only tried breakfast but as described above, it was very nice.
Other services they offer: They have a list of other services they offer for extra: laundry, safety deposit box etc.

My review: Nice, clean, quiet place to stay. Just off the corner of Linea and Paseo. 3 blocks from the Malecon. Several places close by to eat. Breakfast was good at the Casa, meat, eggs, fruit, fruit juice and bread. My Spanish is limited as is their English but we managed just fine.
How was your room?: Was private and quiet. Air conditioned. Bathroom was large and nice.
How was the food they offer?: Food was good and healthy.
Other comments: I would absolutely stay there again and would recommend to friends. |
