My review: This hostal, is not a hostel but a nice small guest house, a hidden gem in Holguin. I stayed there for six days and the young managing owners are outstandingly skilful in taking an exceedingly good care of their guests’ needs from accommodation to meals, cleanliness and health are paramount to them.
Although they don’t have a deep-rooted background in hospitality business, they are enthusiasts who shine in their performance by any measure. They offer a relaxed and welcoming environment, and as a family run business they know the importance of comfort and fine details
I am an ex-hotelier for 35 years and travelled the world; I couldn’t help but admire their honesty and sincerity in realising what a genuine hospitality is all about. Their interest in botany has helped them a great deal in creating a beautifully relaxing back garden with a homely ambiance but a professional touch.
They are situated in a prime location 10 minutes walk from the city centre or a 5 minutes ride by a tricycle rickshaw, “bicitaxi”.
Very competively priced and good value for your money; I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and recommend it very much to future guests. They provide accommodation, ensuring that you get all the necessities to make your stay comfortable. They have the pleasure of placing you at the centre of their attention.

My review: Awesome stay.

Friendliest people we've met in Cuba
The hosts are a couple with their son. They had a family gathering there and we got to know so many super nice people. Had food and drinks together, went to see carneval together, etc.
The place we slept at is a little hut in their garden. As the hosts are biologists, the garden looks brilliant and has some nice places to sit around, a swing, hammock etc.
They organized a cap to pick us up from the airport when we arrived and both speak english. Would recommend Refugio very much! Great stay

How was your room?: Clean, good beds, air conditioning, fridge

How was the food they offer?: Breakfast, though not included, was the best I had in Central America
They also made us sandwiches during the day upon request

My review: Sehr nette Leute. Man wohnt in einem kleinen Häuschen im hübschen Garten hinter dem Haus der Familie. Sehr sauber, schön und modern eingerichtet. Es gibt eine Hängematte, Schaukeln, den lieben Hund Albion und viel grün im Garten zum entspannen. Das Essen war reichlich und sehr lecker. David und Sara sprechen auch englich

My review: Pasamos con mi pareja estas vacaciones en Cuba, alternando distintos tipos de hospedaje (incluidos hoteles de la más alta categoría), y realmente el lugar donde nos sentimos mas cómodos y bienvenidos fue en la casa de Sara y David. La casa es preciosa, el jardín el mejor que he visto, la atención excelente. Realmente un lugar más que recomendable!!!!!!!!

My review: Solamente he pasado una noche en Holguin, por mala planificación de mi viaje por el este de cuba; pero el mejor lugar, la mejor comida, la mayor amplitud y la mejor atención me ha encantado, se suman muchas áreas verdes, mucha tranquilidad y además los anfitriones son excelentes en el trato y verdaderos profesionales de la cocina. Todo esto era increible encontrarlo en el mismo centro de Holguin. Si vuelvo a Cuba regreso vuestra casa sin dudas. saludos desde la argentina

How was the food they offer?: Me impresiono la profecionalidad en la elaboración de los platos, sabor y muy bien presentados, incluyen coctelería, postres etc.. lo unico malo para mi gusto, es que era mucha comida.

Other services they offer: No solo fui por una noche, que fue inolvidable

Other comments: Si regreso a Holguin vuelvo al Refugio de Reyes
