My review: Nice place, access to living room, terrace on top with city view, hamacs to relax, rocking chairs, walking distance from Old historic center.
How was your room?: Nice small room with private bathroom/shower and air conditioning.
How was the food they offer?: Very good, generous, typical breakfast.
Other services they offer: They can help you book taxi rides for out-of-town sightseeing.
Other comments: Nice, friendly owners. I would return there next time.
IMPORTANT: on Google (and tourist map) the street is known as Eduardo Yero but everyone knows it Rey Pelayo. Don't be surprised if Google map points at Eduardo Yero, it's the same street. Eduardo is the official name, Rey Pelayo the usual name (many streets in Santiago have double-names, sometimes you see both on the map with one name in parentheses, but it's not always the case).

My review: I have been to Cuba many times. This is one of the nicer houses due to its amenities and location.
Arnulfo was a true gentleman of Cuba and made great dinners. He was a perfect host to me and my company.
The rooftop deck (with hammock!) was an added bonus.
Close enough to Parque Cespedes to walk to in ten minutes; far enough away so not bothered by noise or tourists.
One of my many highlights: the children of the neighborhood were playing soccer with a deflated basketball in front of the house. Arnulfo was outside with them announcing the game.
If I return to Santiago, I'm staying here.

Hostal Alfurno y Pucha
My review: Alfurno was a fantastic host. The casa was great, in particular the rooftop terrace to watch the sunset and look over Santiago de Cuba. A lovely location, just a few blocks walk from the main plazas and a local street to watch Cuban life in action, try out the ice cream from the house on the corner, yum!
How was your room?: The room was very typical of all the casas we stayed in in Cuba. Clean, our own bathroom and air-conditioning. There were our own spaces to relax in outside of the room including rocking chairs of course!
How was the food they offer?: Alfurno was a great cook! We enjoyed 2 meals with him that were generally better than what you can get at most restaurants in town.
Other services they offer: Alfurno organised a taxi pick up to and from the airport and bus station for us, he also offered to help organise any other excursions we could want as well.
Other comments: Loved meeting Alfurno, he was a warm and welcoming host who loved to chat and help in any way.

My review: My partner and I absolutely adored this casa. Arnulfo was an extremely gracious host and his terras was amazing. I cannot recommend this casa enough to other travellers.
How was your room?: It was great. We had a room with bathroon, a living room with view on the street and an amazing terras.
How was the food they offer?: Fine. We only ate breakfast with Arnulfo. We tod; him we are vegetarians and he was very accommodating.
Other services they offer: Arnulfo was a very good host. We arrived later than expected and had trouble finding our way in the city, but Arnulfo was waiting for us (in the rain!).
He gave us very good tips on the environment and helped us find a casa for the next city we wanted to visit. Truly, he was great.

My review: We found Arnulfo´s Casa a very nice place to stay. He is a very honest and warm person, who looks after your confort during the stay.
The house is very big and has all the necessary commodities you need and a very nice Terraza where you can have a nice vision of the City.
How was your room?: The room was very confortable and in good conditions. The incorporated bathroom is neat and confortable too.
How was the food they offer?: he offers tipical Cuban meals even though we never trayed it because we always were outside and had dinner in the streets.
Other services they offer: We tryed Arnulfo's Breakfast and was really good and abundant.
Other comments: You will feel like at home. Try Arnulfos place we really reccomend it. :)

My review: We had a wonderful stay with Arnulfo!!! I contacted him prior to my holiday and he was very quick with his reply's. He even checked taxi fares etc from Guaradalavaca to Santiago de Cuba for us. The house is located in a quiet area but at easy walking distance from all the major attractions. We (2 females) walked back late at night and felt absolutely safe in the area. Big bonus is the roof top terrace with amazing views over the city.
How was your room?: The room was fine. There were two double beds so it's easy when you're traveling with a friend that you don't need to sleep in the same bed. It was very hot (even in March!) but the fan works so we slept very well. We got woken up by the rooster in the morning, how rural can it get :-)!
How was the food they offer?: We only had breakfast which was great. Freshly squeezed juice, fried eggs and lots, lots of fruit and good coffee.
Other comments: A reccommandation well worth!

My review: Our stay here was very enjoyable. Our host Arnulfo and his niece were very welcoming. They made our stay very pleasant. The food was excellent, the room was clean and the facilities were top class. But most memorable of all was the friendliness we experienced. Arnulfo did so much to help us with a booking in Baracoa. We only had a first name of people we had stayed with in Baracoa before, and yet Arnulfo tracked them down and they met us at the Viazul station. He really likes to help.

My review: This a lovely casa right in the heart of Santiago de Cuba. The guest have the whole top of the house to themselves. And of course you have to take in the view from the roof terrace. You are made to feel like its you home and you are part of the family. Nothing is to much trouble for your host, Arnulfo. If you need any information about Santiago like where its best to change money and a internet café then Arnulfo is the person to ask. Not only a great host but also a perfect guide accompanying me to many of the historic sites in the City. When I return to Santiago de Cuba I know where I am going to be staying.
How was your room?: The room was very clean and tidy. The facilities were very adequate with a choose of either air condition or a fan. on suite in both rooms. I felt so safe in the casa that I'm sure I did not lock my door.
How was the food they offer?: Had a very nice breakfast each morning at a time that suited the guest. The breakfast was made of eggs, fruit salad, coffee and juice. Arnulfo niece is a excellent cook and will cook really nice evening meals that are so tasty and so reasonable priced.

My review: We stayed four nights at this very nice Casa. It´s situated in the centre of the Historic Santiago city very close to all sights. The room was good with a shower. Upstairs a terrace with a nice view of the city you can use and relax on.
Arnulfo is a very nice man and try to help us as much as possible even if he didn´t speak English.He was doing his very best to help us to enjoy our stay as showing us good restaurants and nice places to visit.
The breakfast was good as the dinner.
We can strongly recommend this Casa.

My review: My visit to Santiago de Cuba, was exceptional, I discovered this lovely home by a friend who was staying in this house already several years and I loved it, the house with your website have facilitated the way to book because before mode communicate with owners of private houses was very difficult for them limited access to internet, really it feels like home, delicious breakfast, comfortable room, the cozy panoramic terrace where you can relax, plant above the house is only for the use of guests and most importantly excellent host Arnulfo busy to make their guests feel very, very good

My review: On my first visit to Cuba I was in the Hostal de Arnulfo y Pucha and it was a great experience because I felt like in my own home, Arnulfo is an excellent host and cares about every single detail, good breakfast and good coffee in this spectacular terrace that let you watch the entire downtown Santiago, for me a unique place, no doubt I would love to return to Santiago and would be back in this beautiful Homestay

My review: We have stayed in several casas during our two weeks in Cuba but this was our favourite one by a long shot. The hosts were warm, welcoming and helpful (both retired teachers). They had great knowledge of the area and were happy to answer all our questions about Cuba :-) We felt super safe leaving our possessions in our room and didn't even lock our door most of the time. Having the whole floor of the house to ourselves was great but chilling on the terrace with it's amazing view...priceless. Perfect place to watch the sunset or sunrise with a glass of rum. An afternoon nap in the hammock is a must :-)

Si usted está planeando quedarse en Santiago de Cuba, la casa de Arnulfo y Pucha es el lugar a elegir. Son cálidos, amables y muy serviciales. Pucha es una excelente cocinera y la comida que ella prepara es delicioso, nutritivo y abundante. La vista desde su terraza le da un panorama de Santiago que es impresionante.
